
Angioplasty, CABG, Hip Replacement Amoungst Most Sought Procedures Under Ayushman Bharat, Says Health Minister

New Delhi: Cardiology procedures including angioplasty (PTCA-single as well as double stent) topped the tertiary care procedures taken under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the MOS health recently informed the Rajya Sabha.
The minister was responding to the question raised by Rajya Sabha MP as well as current IMA President, Dr Shantanu Sen, who questioned about the top tertiary care procedures for which money has been sanctioned under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the amount spent thereon
As per records presented by the minister, orthopaedic procedure of Fracture fixation - Hip Internal Fixation ((Intertrochanteric Fracture with implant) + rehabilitation) topped the tertiary care procedures accounting for 61,754 hospital admissions. This was followed by PTCA - single stent (medicated, inclusive of diagnostic angiogram) which accounted for 46,899 hospital admissions while PTCA - double stent (medicated, inclusive of diagnostic angiogram) accounted for 12,142 hospital admissions
In terms of money sanctioned by the government, Cardiology procedures topped the lists with PTCA single stent only having Rs 30,230.20 lakhs sanctioned from the government.
Other popular procedures under PMJAY included Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), Total Knee Replacement, Mitral Valve Replacement (mechanical valve),Electron beam with Linear accelerator (Radical), Unlisted Regimen Palliative CT- Max 6 cycles (Per cycle), Management of Acute MI with Angiogram as well as many neonatal procedures
The minister further clarified to the parliament, that there is no plan to discontinue service like cataract and dialysis for which separate national programmes already exist Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) covers around 10.74 poor and vulnerable families as per SECC database on the basis of select deprivation and occupational criteria.
