By L&T's classification standards, a project of this magnitude falls within the significant category, typically valued between Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,500 crore, reports PTI.

L&T, with its extensive expertise and track record, stands as a formidable player in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) domain. The company, boasting a staggering USD 23 billion in revenue, operates as a key player in hi-tech manufacturing and service sectors as well.

The contract awarded to L&T underscores the company's commitment to spearheading transformative projects aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure and accessibility across the nation.

The team had earlier reported that observing the prolonged delay in the construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai, the Madras High Court issued a notice to the central government on a petition seeking an order to speed up the institute's construction.

In this regard, the court has sought a response from the central government since the construction of the institute had been delayed for almost 9 years due to various reasons and no steps were taken to expedite the construction.
