Rajkot: Alleged Rape Case Involving Doctors

A Rajkot-based woman doctor has been allegedly raped by a doctor from Ahmedabad. The accused has been recently booked for his action following a complaint filed by the victim.

Nearly two months ago, it came to light that the number of rape cases has increased in Gujarat by 15% in 2021, receiving two complaints every day and one complaint every day in Ahmedabad.

The accused has been identified as Dr. Parth Makwana, who was friends with the victim when they were students. The victim lives in the Bapunagar area in Ahmedabad. As per the statement of the victim, Dr. Makwana willingly involved in a physical relationship with the victim. The relationship lasted one year from November 25, 2020, to October 5, 2021.

According to A-division police station sources of TOI, it was seen that Dr. Makwana, while being in the relationship, promised to marry her. Later, at the end of their relationship, he backtracked from his promise.

An official from the police station informed that the complaint was initially lodged in Ahmedabad, but later was transferred here as the alleged crime was committed in a Rajkot hotel.

The victim also alleged getting raped in hotels as well as at the doctor's house. The hostels in which the victim was forced are situated in Rajkot and Jamnagar.

A team had earlier reported that a 38-year-old woman doctor posted in Chhendipada Community Health Centre (CHC) was allegedly raped by a man who visited the doctor's official quarter on the CHC campus to deliver food on Monday night.

The accused has been identified as Sukanta Behera, the 35-year-old son of the Dhaba owner. An FIR was registered against him, following which he was arrested and forwarded to court.
