Warangal: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants in Telangana, the state Government has sanctioned eight new medical colleges in the State and these admissions in these colleges are likely to commence from next year onwards.
The confirmation regarding this came from the Vice-Chancellor of the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Dr. B Karunakar Reddy on the occasion of the Republic Day celebration at the University, adds Telangana Today.
At the occasion, faculty members including University Rector Dr. T. Venkateshwar Rao, Registrar Dr. D Praveen Kumar, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Y Malleeshwar, Joint Registrar Dr. D Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Registrar Dr. Ramanujam, others including Dr. Sudhakar Rao, Dr. Hemant, S Nagarjuna, Varsity employees were present.
As per the data provided by the MoS Health Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar last year, the State of Telangana has a total number of 34 medical colleges with an intake capacity of 5240 MBBS seats. Among these, 1790 MBBS seats belong to the 11 Government-run medical colleges and 3450 MBBS seats belong to institutes run by private management.
had earlier reported that acting on the application by the State government seeking permission for setting up 8 medical colleges with 150 MBBS seat capacity each, a team of National Medical Commission (NMC) was about to visit the medical colleges in December.
It had been proposed that these eight new medical colleges would be set up at Ramagundam, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubabad, Kothagudem, Jagtial, Mancherial, and Sangareddy.

As per the latest media report by Telangana Today, the VC of KNRUHS has informed on the occasion of Republic Day that admission to these additional eight new medical colleges would commence next year.
The daily adds that the VC unfurled the National Flag at the university administrative building on Wednesday and mentioned that since the construction of the new building the Republic Day celebrations have been held in there.
Mentioning that the intake capacity in all the UG, PG, Super Specialty courses have been increased, he further added, "With the help of the government, the new building for the university has been fully staffed and got all the basic amenities."
He further mentioned that steps were being taken for introducing new medical-related (allied) courses.
"The transactions are being carried out transparently and all necessary steps are being taken to improve medical education in the State," added Dr. Reddy further mentioning that significant changes have occurred in the field of medical education under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
