9 MBBS Students Of Dr YS Parmar Medical College Suspended, Fined Rs 50k Each For Ragging Juniors

Nahan: In a ragging incident reported from Dr Y S Parmar Medical College, Nahan, in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district, 9 MBBS students have been suspended for 45 days for allegedly ragging the junior batch. The accused medicos have further been fined Rs 50,000 each and they will also not be allowed to attend any sports or literary function for a year.
Speaking to PTI, the medical college officials informed, "Nine students of the 2022 batch of Dr Y S Parmar Medical College, Nahan, in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district have been suspended for 45 days for allegedly ragging the junior batch."
These nine students were allegedly found to be involved in the ragging of junior students (2023 batch) in the dissection hall of the anatomy department of the college on March 4, in which abusive words were also used, college officials said in a statement, quotes PTI.

The matter was probed by a team and subsequently, the anti-ragging committee suspended nine students for 45 days and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each student.
Further, they will not be permitted to attend any sports or literary function for a year, the statement added.

On March 4, had reported that based on the complaint by the junior student, who was allegedly slapped, the anti-ragging committee took cognisance of the issue immediately and the panel identified five people involved in the matter, including two interns, one final-year medico, one nursing student and one junior researcher.
The main culprit was imposed with a monetary fine of Rs 30,000, an academic fine extending internship period of 15 days and the expulsion from the hostel for the remaining period of his internship. The second intern, who was involved in the incident, faced similar punishment along with a fine of Rs 25,000. The nursing student, who is a day scholar, had been asked to pay a fine of Rs 25,000 along with a 15-day suspension from classes. Meanwhile, the junior researcher had been imposed with a Rs 25,000 fine and has been expelled from the hostel for 15 days.
