In what can be termed as a case of freaky accident in the premise of Fortis hospital in Naharbhavi, a 80 year old man jumped to his death in a lift shaft. Sachinanda Murthy, a resident of Vijaynagar, was unfortunate not to notice that the lift door has opened, but the lift was still stuck on the third floor, not on the ground floor from where he had pressed the button multiple times.
Murthy was in a hurry, and in this passage of time failed to notice the technical error in the lift at the hospital. His mistake proved fatal leading him to a sudden fall to death.
“Due to poor eye sight, the deceased did not realize that the elevator was still on the third floor. As he was in hurry, Mr. Murthy opened the door and put his foot forward only to fall. He died of grievous head injuries. During investigation it came to light that the collapsible gate of the lift could open even if the lift was on another floor which proves technical fault in the machine following which a case of death due to negligence has been slapped on the hospital authorities under section 304 of IPC,” said an investigating officer ( as reported by officer to Hindu)
