3 Quacks booked for practising allopathy in Bhiwandi

Thane: In a recent crackdown on unqualified medical practitioners, the Thane police registered a case against threebogus doctorswho were practising allopathic medicine without valid qualifications and licences, an official said on Sunday. The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Dr Rajkumar Sharma, medical officer of the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation (BNMC), the official said. The accused, Bhimrao Gyanba Kawade, Mohammad Shamim Siddiqui and Mohammad Ayub Mohammad Hanif, allegedly posed as doctors and treated people in different parts of Bhiwandi, he said, news agency PTI reported. Also Read:2 quacks booked for practising illegally in Ulhasnagar The trio has been booked under section 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of theMaharashtra Medical Practitioners Act, 1961. According to a media report inNavbharat Times, Mohammad Ayub Mohammad was operating a clinic in Noori Nagar, Dongarpada, in this area. He was found practising without a certificate. Equipment and medicines worth Rs 8,992 were seized from the three places. A case has been registered at the Shantinagar police station against all three accused. The BNMC has been conducting regular inspections in recent months to crack down on such bogus doctors who continue to operate illegally in the region, reports PTI. had earlier reported that a quack was booked in Mumbai’s Chembur area after a 42-year-old rickshaw driver died shortly after allegedly receiving treatment and an injection at his clinic. Authorities have confirmed that the accused had no medical qualifications and was illegally practising medicine. The Chunabhatti police have registered a case following a complaint filed by the victim’s wife, who alleged that the man posing as a doctor not only misled the family but also administered unsafe medical treatment, resulting in her husband’s untimely death.
