Kullu:An emailbomb threattriggered panic and mass evacuations at two state-run government medical colleges and hospitals inHimachal Pradeshon Tuesday—Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College in Nerchowk (Mandi) and Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College in Chamba. According to the PTI report, the hospitals received emails that read, "four RDX 800-silicon base fuses are purposely doped" to cause minimal casualties. Outpatient department (OPD) services and academic classes were suspended temporarily, leading to a chaotic scene as patients, staff, and students evacuated the facility. However, emergency services continued uninterrupted, and admitted patients continued to receive care. Hundreds of OPD patients were forced to leave without medical consultation, as the search operations continued throughout the hospital. Authorities ultimately found nothing suspicious. A similar situation unfolded at the Chamba Medical College and Hospital in the afternoon. OPD services and classes were halted, and the entire premises were evacuated as police conducted a thorough search. No suspicious items or explosives were found at either location. The police have taken these threats seriously and are investigating the matter. However, no suspicious object has been found in the search so far. Nevertheless, the security cordon has been tightened as a precaution. Mandi Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma confirmed that an investigation is underway. Speaking toTOI, the SP said, "We are investigating the matter, and facts related to the case will come to light as the inquiry progresses. As soon as the information was received in the morning, the entire hospital was sanitised by the police teams and by a bomb disposal squad. Our first priority was to keep everyone safe. Our search yielded nothing objectionable. There is no need to panic as of now." Mandi Headquarters DSP Dinesh Kumar said the entire area was secured and a search was underway, reports PTI.
