Silchar:Just days after afake doctorwas arrested fromSilchar Medical College and Hospital, Cachar police have intensified their efforts against unqualified medical practitioners by arresting two more fake dentists who had been operating clinics for the past ten years in the Tarapur area of Silchar. The latest arrests followed complaints from Red Cross Hospital and SMCH, which raised alarms over the increasing number of unqualified individuals posing as medical professionals and endangering public health. The Indian Dental Association (IDA), Assam State Branch, had filed a formal complaint on September 2. Police teams raided the Hazari Dental Clinic and Mazumdar Dental Clinic, both located in the Tarapur India Club Masjid complex. The two individuals — Kamrul Islam Hazari (50) and Tinku Mazumdar (53) — were caught red-handed while treating patients, reportsTOI. Cm Sir has also instructed us to take strict action against those quacks or those acting as doctors," Mahatta also stated. Authorities seized a prescription pad from the clinic, which displayed fake educational credentials, confirming the fraudulent nature of the operation. During questioning, the accused claimed they were ''dental therapists'' and held an ''alternative science MD degree'' from a college in West Bengal. had previously reported that in a shocking incident, a 23-year-old man with no medical qualifications was arrested for impersonating a gynaecologist at the government-run Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). According to the news reports, the accused, a resident of Katigorah, had reportedly been entering the hospital wearing a white coat and treating patients in the gynaecology OPD since August 29.
